We are very proud to announce Christian Scheiflinger from Austria as the winner of Drivers’ Fuel Challenge 2014, and the title as the most fuel-efficient driver in the world. Tomi Roimola from Finland placed second and Aare Müil from Estonia placed third.
Focus on the driver
The final, which took place in Gothenburg on September 19, is one of many ways for Volvo Trucks to spotlight just how much difference the driver can actually make – both economically and environmentally.
Knowing the vehicle is everything
– It's very important to know the system; you have to know how the vehicle reacts on your input. If you have the full understanding of the vehicle, what it's doing and how it reacts, you can improve your driving and improve the fuel efficiency, says Christian Scheiflinger.
Fuel-efficiency is one of the most important factors for both the environment and a company’s economy. Volvo Trucks are proud of building trucks that have extremely low fuel consumption, but equally important as having fuel-efficient trucks, is to have fuel-efficient drivers. It simply takes two to tango.
To stimulate fuel-efficient driving and reward especially skilled drivers, Volvo Trucks is hosting The Drivers’ Fuel Challenge – a global competition for drivers of all brands – about driving as economically as possible on a specified route.
After all the local rounds around the world have been completed the 23 best drivers will face each other in the world final. This will take place in Volvo’s hometown Gothenburg (Sweden) on the 19 of September 2014 where they’ll compete for the prestigious title – The most fuel-efficient driver in the world.
Besides honor and glory, the winner will be rewarded with an unforgettable Volvo experience.
